About
I’m Dr Chaundy and I started my professional career as an orthopaedic surgeon with 10 years’ experience in the National Health Service in and around London. Although primarily clinical, I held a number of managerial roles, particularly during the covid crisis. During this time I gained great insight in to the inner workings of the healthcare service and where clinical staff succeed and struggle on a day-to-day basis.
I enjoyed clinical practise immensely but I had always been drawn towards more technical challenges (in the cognitive, not practical sense of the word, of course surgery is very technical). After teaching myself to write code I undertook a computer science MSc and following this I have spent four years working as a platform and data engineer in an early-stage startup and at a hedge fund. This has given me a huge breadth of exposure and experience in engineering practises at very different scales.
During this time I have also had the opportunity to work with start-ups on a strategic basis helping founders understand the landscape of the problems they are facing, their potential user base, and intricacies of healthcare within the National Health Service.
My goal is to combine my medical insight, technical know-how, and strategic ideas to help healthcare workers, founders and teams build products that genuinely improve patient care.
